Introducing
The Indie Author Diaries
This blog series is all about celebrating self-published authors (aka, indie authors) who have taken a risk to get their book out there into the world!
Why? Because let’s face it… self-publishing can be hard work!
Once you decide to GO FOR IT – you very quickly realise you are not just the writer of your story…
Self-published authors often also take on the roles of:
- Editor
- Marketer
- Designer
- Distributor
- Administrator
- Social Media Manager / Content Creator
This blog will have a focus on our authors unique journey to self-publishing, showcasing their books along the way. Birchy’s Books is excited to share these interesting tales that will feature authors from across the globe. This will include a range of authors from all different genre’s – some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting since starting my own self-publishing journey with my first children’s book – My Mum Wets Her PLANTS.
This Blog Series Is For You...
If you’re interested in self-publishing, I’m sure you will learn something from our indie authors – perhaps they will help to inspire and motivate you to pursue your own dream of publishing a book?
If you are always searching for a new book to read for yourself or for the little ones in your life, you will love reading articles by our indie authors. You will be introduced to a range of books that will include children’s picture books (of course!), young adult fiction, novels of all different genre’s and even poetry.
If you are interested in finding new, unique stories to stock on the shelves at your business… then you have come to the write blog (pun intended).
A Community of Self-Published Authors
During my short time in this author world, I am blown away with the incredibly supportive community amongst self-published authors. I have had the pleasure of connecting both online and in-person with many people in this world since slowly putting myself and my own book out there.
One way I have been able to do this is through joining Laura Feldman’s online marketing course. As someone who has ZERO idea about marketing and uses social media sparingly on my personal accounts – when Laura’s course popped up, I knew I had to do it – especially if My Mum Wets Her Plants was ever going to venture further than my own kid’s bookshelf. Given the subtle [or not so subtle] health promotional message in my book about the importance of mum’s looking after their pelvic floor and visiting a women’s health physio during their pregnancy and postpartum – I decided it really should be made available to as many people as possible – having this realisation was the further ‘push’ I needed to join the Little Ivory Haus community.
Laura is a self-published author herself who has written multiple, international best-selling children’s books and has created guides on how you can do this, too.
Indie Author Diaries
I am so happy I joined Laura’s course for many reasons but being able to join her self-published author community is definitely a highlight. Since signing up, I have had the opportunity to connect with a wonderful bunch of self-publishing story tellers and I look forward to having many of the Little Ivory Haus authors feature on Indie Author of the Week.
The blog will commence in August, 2024! So, if you are a self-published author reading this and would like to be featured – please get in touch here or say hello via my Instagram account – @birchysbooks.
It has been through meeting other mum’s and dad’s on their own self-publishing journey – both locally and online, that has helped inspired this blog.
There are SO many interesting books out there that have been written with such love [and sweat and tears] and they deserve to be shared and promoted – which is what I hope this series will help to achieve.
